Spread the love

American automaker Ford has finally unveiled its new EcoSport faceliftin India. The new SUV is loaded with new features, including changes in the engine.

In the front, there is an upright trapezoidal chrome grille and raised hood, which is giving it a muscular look. The new headlamps, include daytime running lights and bigger fog lamps from the previous one.

At the back, spare wheel is fixed on the back door as it was in its predecessor. The new 17” size of the wheel and the new alloy pattern have enhanced the look of the new EcoSport.

In the inside, the first thing to notice is the new dashboard design, which is complimented with 8” infotainment touchscreen. The new 8” screen is only available in top two trims, while the lower models will come fitted with 6.5” touchscreen.

The connectivity is now upgraded to works with Sync 3 and will support mobile navigation like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Sync connectivity will allow you to make phone calls and play music through your voice commands.

At the rear, the boot space is tweaked smartly enough to adjust it to two-level position for the floor, which can be set to few inches down to allow for more luggage space.

Also, the American company is offering two engine variants in 1.5L diesel and petrol each, as the 1.0 ecoboost engine has been discontinued in the facelift. The new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine now comes with 3-cylinder and produces 120 bhp and 150 Nm of torque.

There is change in the intake and exhaust cam system that will function independently and will help in delivering faster throttle response and increased fuel efficiency.

The engine comes mated with 5-Speed manual or an all-new 6-Speed automatic, which replaces the previous dual-clutch auto. Even paddle shift option is also been offered by the Ford. But the diesel variant comes only with the 5-Speed manual gearbox.

The AT variant gets Hill Launch Assist, traction control and cruise control features.

On the safety front, the new SUV’s top variant comes fitted with 6 airbags. Other variants will come with dual airbags as standard and will also get Ford’s Emergency Assistance System that will automatically connect to the emergency services in case of any accident.

The ABS or anti-lock braking feature will be standard across all trims.

Currently, the price is not been disclosed, but we don’t expect major changes in it. So, if we take the last price bracket into consideration then the rivals will include Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Honda WR-V, Mahindra TUV300, and Hyundai Creta.

Launched in 2013, EcoSport has really made its mark in the Indian auto industry, and it was ranked highest in the SUV category in the JD Power Initial Quality Study for two consecutive years.
